From telenovelas to Hollywood, this Mexican talent is thriving all while continuing her charity work

Ana de la Reguera is a talented Mexican actress known for her work in Telenovelas and film that is heavily involved in charity work

Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera was born in Veracruz and has starred in telenovelas, film and television. Ana comes from a beautiful family- literally- her mother Nena de la Reguera once held the title of Miss Veracruz and later became a journalist and television personality.

Although we know Ana for her time on screen, she is also a talented dancer and after taking classic ballet classes she began performance arts studies at the Cultural Institute of Veracruz. Ana then left for Televisa‘s Center for Artistic Education and TV Aztecas’ artistic institute in Mexico City.

Like many actors, Ana spent some time in the theater, participating in “El Cartero” where she received two awards for “Best Actress” and “Most promising actress.” Her professional career started with her role in the telenovela Azul (1996) and the following year the actress received awards for “Best Female Actor” for her work on Pueblo Chico, Inferno Grande (1997).

Ana’s film debut began with Dust to Dust (2000), which earned her two nominations and in 2003 she starred in the highly acclaimed comedy Ladies‘ Night (2003) which won her three major awards including the Latin America MTV’s Favorite Actress Award. The American audience fell in love with the actress in the hilarious movie starring Jack Black, Nacho Libre where she played Sister Encarnación.

Ana has since created her own content and is the creator of the Dramedy “Ana” streaming its 1st season on Pantaya. Most recently, Ana starred in Army of the Dead (2021) and The Forever Purge (2021). Recently, HOLA! USA did an exclusive interview with Ana in which she discusses the two aforementioned movies.

Aside from acting Ana is heavily involved in charity work and in 2010 she founded VeraCruzANA after Hurricane Karl devastated her home state of Veracruz. The project aims to support the underprivileged community and aims to generate employment and development. She is also the President of the One Children Foundation in the U.S which birthed “Los Angeles en Mexico,” a movement after the earthquake that hit Mexico on September 19, 2017.
