Sofia Vergara has held the title as the highest paid actress in TV from 2013-2020 and is best known for her role in the hit sitcom ‘Modern Family.’ The actress was born in Colombia in July 1972. Her mother was a homemaker and her father was a cattle rancher.
Vergara did not initially intend to be an actress. She originally studied dentistry at a university in Colombia but dropped out before graduating to pursue a modeling and acting career. The Colombian beauty got her feet wet in show business by co-hosting TV shows on the Univision network in the late 1990s. From there, Vergara started getting small acting roles in movies such as ‘Four Brothers,’ and ‘Madea Goes to Jail.’
It wasn’t until 2009 when Vergara got her big break playing Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC sitcom, ‘Modern Family.’ The show went on to receive several different awards, opening up many doors for Vergara.
In addition to her acting success, Vergara is also a successful businesswoman. The 49-year-old has her own jean line, lingerie brand, and her own collection of shoes with Payless. She is an ambassador for Head & Shoulders shampoo, has multiple fragrances, and even has her own furniture line, Sofia Vergara Collection.
Nowadays, Vergara is a judge on the popular NBC competition show, ‘America’s Got Talent’ alongside Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Simon Cowell. Vergara is married to actor Joe Manganiello. She has a 29-year-old son named Manolo Gonzalez Vergara who she had with her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzalez at 18-years-old.
