Melania Trump is already making history as the First Lady of the United States. It was announced on Friday that President Donald Trump’s wife is opening the White House movie theater to the public for the first time since it was first converted from a cloakroom to a theater under the direction of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942. As of May 12, the theater will now be included in the East Wing self-guided tour route.
“The White House belongs to the people of this country,” Melania said in a statement. “I believe everyone who takes the time to visit and tour the White House should have as much access to its rich history and wonderful traditions as possible. It is my hope that our visitors truly enjoy the newest piece of the tour.”
The first lady echoed her statement on her Instagram account, sharing a photo of the theater’s plush red seats. Alongside the picture, the 47-year-old wrote, “Self-guided tours in the East Wing now include the @WhiteHousemovie theater! This house belongs to the people & everyone deserves to enjoy its history!”

No doubt the mom-of-one and her son Barron Trump will enjoy the White House’s theater once they move into the presidential residence this summer. The mother-son duo will relocate from Manhattan to Washington D.C. after the president’s 11-year-old son wraps up his current academic year in New York. President Trump previously revealed that he and his wife already have Barron enrolled in a D.C. school for next year, though he wouldn't reveal which one. "He's all set," the dad-of-five told Bloomberg. "We just got him into a good school."
