TikTok superstar Charli D’Amelio is the first content creator to hit 100 million followers just over a year and a half after joining the platform. And she is officially here to stay! The social media personality and dancer is the queen of the social media platform. Currently, only two creators have reached 50 million. This means she is twice as big as Will Smith.

On her Twitter account, the 16-year-old “nutmegger” from suburban Connecticut who became the most famous teen in America has thanked her followers. “100 million people supporting me!! I truly cannot believe that this is real,” said D’Amelio.

This is a huge number. Why? D’Amelio hit the milestone figure ahead of the world‘s biggest celebrities and the YouTubers, Instagrammers, and Vine stars who preceded her. Let’s just think about the 1 million followers the teenager had one year ago and how she started making dance videos in her bedroom. Today, she has surpassed any expectation and now her career outside of the platform is starting to diversify and grow. A feature-film, make-up and fashion collaborations, a Super Bowl commercial, and her first book, among other deals, have helped her expand her young business empire.

A few weeks ago, D’Amelio entered the Guinness Book of Records for being the person with the most followers on TikTok. No less than 88.2 million people were hooked on her videos on the fashion platform just two months ago and her following had been growing since then.

Despite the fact that last week a recent controversy made her lose nearly one million followers, she was able to recover from it and move on. D’Amelio is ‘breaking’ the internet at levels never seen before. She is officially the first person in the world to reach 100 million followers, surpassing any celebrity, model and athlete, including Jennifer Lopez - who has challenged her choreographies - ven the Kardashians or Ariana Grande. To put this data into perspective, Grande, one of the most popular profiles on Instagram has 207 million followers, while on TikTok she barely exceeds 20 million followers.

This is just the beginning for D’Amelio. What’s next? Time will tell!
