Meghan Markle calls Prince Harry 'best husband ever' on first joint trip with the Queen

Meghan Markle traveled to Cheshire with Her Majesty via the royal train — a rare privilege afforded to the former American actress. The pair were all smiles upon their arrival to Runcorn Station on June 14.

Meghan wore a cream dress by Givenchy for the outing — the same designer behind her wedding gown.

In true royal fashion, the newly-minted Duchess of Sussex completed her look with pantyhose.

Meghan's earrings were a gift from the Queen. HOLA!'s sister brand HELLO!'s royal correspondent Emily Nash was told that the pearl and diamond earrings were a gift from the monarch. 

The 92-year-old monarch looked vibrant in a green coat by Stewart Parvin and matching hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan.

The royal women were presented with flowers from two local school children.

The pair were on hand to open the Mersey Gateway Bridge, where they were introduced to architects, planners and community representatives. The Queen and Duchess were given the chance to view the bridge, before enjoying a performance by local school children called Bringing Communities Together: Halton's River Crossings Over the Ages.

Meghan and her grandmother-in-law shared a sweet moment laughing.

The Queen and Duchess observed the national silence in memory of the people who died in the Grenfell Tower fire one year ago.

Babies on the brain? Meghan greeted a young fan during a walkabout. While in Cheshire, the Duchess of Sussex opened up about her marriage to a well-wisher. “It is wonderful,” Meghan said. “I’m really enjoying it.”  She added, “[Harry’s] the best husband ever.”

Later in the day, the duo visited Storyhouse, which is a theater, library and community hub. The 36-year-old and the Queen watched a performance titled Drop in the Ocean, in addition to a performance by Fallen Angels, a dance theater company for people recovering from addiction. The Queen remarked: "Wonderful. That must help."

At Storyhouse, the Queen and Suits alum viewed a storytelling session for local nursery children hosted by PCSO Eva Williams. The young kids sung the “Wheels on the Bus” nursery rhyme for the royals.

Meghan happily clapped alongside her in-law. The outing marked a milestone for the Duchess as it was her first engagement sans her husband Prince Harry.
