The Duchess of Sussex is still learning the royal protocol ropes. Queen Elizabeth helped her grandson’s wife Meghan Markle navigate a tricky moment during their joint trip to Cheshire on Thursday, June 14. The former American actress, who appeared nervous in the moment, was unsure who should get in their car first after arriving to northwest England. "What is your preference?" she asked the 92-year-old monarch, to which Her Majesty said: "You go first." "Oh okay,” Meghan, 36, replied.
This isn’t the first time that the Suits alum has required the help of the royal family when it comes to protocol. While making her Trooping the Colour debut last Saturday, Meghan was seen asking husband Prince Harry when she should curtsy to the Queen. The Duke of Sussex gave his wife discreet instructions while on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. She asked him, "Say when" with regards to curtsying, to which he replied, "Now,” ensuring that his wife was in perfect timing with the rest of the British royals.
