Princess Athena isn’t the only member of the Danish royal family who had first day of school nerves! The royal’s cousin Prince Vincent shed a few tears prior to making his way to Tranegård School with his twin sister Princess Josephine on Tuesday, August 15 to begin their first day of Grade 0.

Crown Princess Mary comforted her six-year-old son as they posed for photos outside of their home, Amalienborg Palace, in Copenhagen. While Vincent appeared to have a case of the jitters, his sister was her usual lively self beaming for the cameras as she held on to her father Crown Prince Frederik’s hand, laughing, twirling and speaking to the press.

While the six-year-olds will be attending the same school in Hellerup, Mary revealed that Josephine and Vincent will be in separate classrooms. Crown Prince Frederik said, “They are each other’s best friends and can see each other in the quarters. But we thought they should have some new comrades.” Josephine told reporters, “I’ll go to A and Vincent will go to B.”

The royal twins coordinated in sky blue ensembles for their big day. Josephine looked adorable sporting a Pili Carrera dress, coral sandals and a flower headband, while her brother donned green cargo shorts, a blue mandarin shirt and Ralph Lauren trainers.
After leaving the palace, Crown Princess Mary snapped a sweet picture of her youngest children outside of their school. The royal family’s Instagram account shared the personal photo with a message that read: “Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine on their first school day.” The Danish twins are attending the same school as their older siblings, Prince Christian, 11, and Princess Isabella, ten.
