American-born Prince Philip of Serbia engaged to visual artist Dana Maar

Another royal wedding is in the works! The Royal Palace of Belgrade announced on Monday (July 24) that Prince Philip of Serbia is engaged to graphic designer and collage artist Danica Marinkovic, also known as Dana Maar.

Sharing a photo of the newly-engaged couple, the palace stated in a release: “Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine and Princess Maria da Gloria Orleans-Braganza have great pleasure to announce that HRH Prince Philip is engaged to Ms. Danica Marinkovic, daughter of Mr. Milan Marinkovic – Cile and Mrs. Beba Marinkovic.”

The royal wedding date and location will be released at a later time. Prince Philip, who is a fraternal twin, is the second oldest child of Crown Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia’s three sons — Hereditary Prince Peter, 37, and Prince Alexander, 35 — whom he shares with ex-wife Princess Maria da Gloria.

Philip was born in Fairfax, Virginia in 1982. The 35-year-old royal, who enjoys surfing, snowboarding and football, resided in Virginia until 1984 and went on to earn his bachelor of arts degree in humanities from the University College London (UCL). The groom-to-be works as a global asset manager in London.

Meanwhile his fiancée, who was born in Serbia in 1986, is a visual artist. Dana received her MA in graphic design communication from London's Chelsea College of Arts in 2009. According to her website, the future Princess is actively involved in the arts and has taken part in numerous art exhibitions,fairs,  and in the various competitions through which she showed her work in solo and group  exhibitions in prestigious galleries, both in Paris and Belgrade.
