Selena Gomez shows off kidney transplant scar in bikini during Australia trip

Selena Gomez had some fun in the sun during a getaway to Australia. The 25-year-old traveled Down Under on Monday, March 19, where she was spotted onboard a yacht with friends off the coast of Sydney. The Wolves singer beamed as she enjoyed a cruise along the Sydney Harbor Bridge. Selena looked relaxed as she laid out in the sun, enjoyed snacks with her pals and took a moment of R&R to herself with a book. The Fetish artist looked stunning wearing an orange bikini top and black bottoms, which showed off one of the scars from her kidney transplant.

The outing marked the first time that the Disney channel alum has shown her scar in public. Selena, who underwent the life-saving surgery with best friend Fransia Raisa last summer, is reportedly visiting Australia for the Hillsong Colour Conference for Women — two weeks after going on a break with boyfriend Justin Bieber. While Selena first showed off the scar on her stomach back when she announced the surgery in September, Francia recently explained that Selena's scar on her thigh came after she suffered a complication.

“A few hours after our surgery, I woke up and had a text from her that said, ‘I’m really scared,’ the Grownish star told W magazine. “My kidney was very active, and when it turned I broke an artery. They had to take her into emergency surgery and get a vein from her leg and build a new artery to keep my kidney in place. She could have died.”

In November, Selena opened up about embracing her body and her new scars. "When I look at my body now, I just see life,” she told Billboard magazine. “There are a million things I can do -- lasers and creams and all that stuff -- but I’m OK with it. And by the way, there’s nothing wrong with [plastic surgery]."
