A new year means more exciting news to look forward to! 2018 was full of unforgettable moments for our favorite royals and celebrities. Last year laid the groundwork for an exciting 2019. 

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they are expecting their first child. The British and Monaco royal families will each host royal weddings. On the celebrity side of things, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez fueled engagement rumors, and flashed some lavish jewelry.

The Latinx music explosion is showing no sign of slowing down. Roma proved that it could possibly sweep award season. Although 2019 just started, there is already so much to look forward to.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal baby

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared some of 2018’s biggest news when they announced they were having their first child. Since the reveal, all eyes have been on Meghan’s growing baby bump as she attends various engagements.

The mommy-to-be has been spotted cradling the “little bump,” set to be born in the spring, according to Kensington Palace. She and her Prince have both shared how delighted they are to welcome their first born.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez spent 2018 proving why they are #relationshipgoals. The Dinero singer and the MLB commentator will mark two years as a couple in March – could that mean wedding bells?

According to the songstress, timing was on their side for the start and would have to be when she decides to say, "I do."

“Now at this point in our lives where we both have kids, we both have accomplished certain things in our careers and we’re kinda in that second act of our lives," she said during an interview with InStyle. "We really complement each other.”

Royal Weddings – Louis Ducruet and Marie Chevallier

Could this be the year of royal weddings? Princess Stephanie of Monaco announced last February that her family would expand as her son Louis, proposed to his long-time love, Marie.

Since the announcement, the college sweethearts have kept their marriage plans mum, but have continued to showcase their love en route to the altar.

Before taking a trip down the aisle, the pair took a major step in their relationship with the adoption of their fur-baby Pancake. Swoon-worthy Instagram pictures only amp up anticipation for their beautiful wedding day.

The wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Tom Kingston

Lady Gabriella is following in the royal footsteps of Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie. Ella is set to marry her fiancé Tom Kingston during a ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle in the Spring of 2019.

Gabriella and Tom got engaged in August 2018, and their wedding will mark the third marriage from the British royal family in the span of a year. According to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, the venue has “personal resonance,” for the couple.

The event is sure to bring out a host of royals and celebs, making it one of the most anticipated of this year. 

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s political takeoff

All eyes have been on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez since she announced and secured her victory in the 2018 election. The Bronx-native is the youngest woman elected to congress.

The Bronx-born daughter of Puerto Rican parents is part of a wave of women bringing diversity to Washington, D.C., and she's walking that path with a style of her own. From dancing her way into her new political office space to wearing hoop earrings during her official swearing-in ceremony. We can’t wait to see what else Alexandria has planned for 2019.

Latinx Takeover at the Coachella Valley Music Festival

Some of the biggest names in Latin music will perform their hits in the deserts of southern California. The release of this year’s Coachella lineup shows that the Latin music takeover from 2018 was no fluke.

J Balvin and Bad Bunny have joined this year’s lineup, as well as Spanish singing sensation Rosalía. Keeping the spirit of the culture alive, Tomasa Del Real, Tucanes De Tijuana, Javiera Mena and Mon Laferte will also take the stage.

Roma’s Award Season Success

The Netflix film, which stars Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira, was one of the most-buzzed about films of 2018. The harrowing movie has kicked off 2019 with a blast.

During the 2019 Golden Globes ceremony, the film won for Best Director in a Motion Picture and Bests Foreign Language Film. If it’s any indication of the way award season will play out for the film, 2019 is looking bright.

The return of Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez

Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez each respectively faced big challenges in 2018. Selena, 26, took a step away from social media to focus on her health and wellness.

The Wolves singer did some time in a health facility, after personal issues took a toll on her mental well-being. Demi, 26, completed a 90-day stay in a rehabilitation center following a near-fatal overdose in July.

Since completing treatment, the Confident singer has expressed her desire to get back to her fans. "I’m so blessed I get to take this time to be with family, relax, work on my mind, body and soul and come back when I’m ready," she tweeted. "I have my fans to thank for that. I’m so grateful, truly. I love you guys so f–ing much."
