Gael García Bernal to perform with Natalia LaFourcade and Miguel at the Oscars

It’s going to be a performance to remember! Gael García Bernal is set to perform at the 90th annual Academy Awards next month. The Mexican actor along with Natalia LaFourcade and Miguel will take to the stage during the star-studded ceremony to perform Remember Me from Disney’s Oscar-nominated film Coco, which celebrates Mexican culture. Gael, 39, has previously opened up about singing in the 2017 animated movie. “I now know that I shouldn’t be doing that,” he told The Hollywood Reporter last year. “It was fun, but it was also nerve-racking because I’m not a singer.”

The movie’s director Lee Unkrich revealed on February 19 that he spoke to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge about Coco at the 2018 BAFTA Awards. The filmmaker tweeted, "Kate and William told me last night that they were looking forward to showing George #PixarCoco, so I guess that happened today!” According to the Daily Mail, Kate Middleton said, “I'm desperate to see it. Lots of girlfriends have been to see it with their kiddies and been really impressed with it.”

In addition to Gael, Common, Andra Day, Mary J. Blige, Keala Settle and Sufjan Stevens are also scheduled to perform at the 2018 Oscars. The stars will perform this year’s nominated songs. “We’re excited to have these talented artists showcase the powerful contribution music makes to filmmaking,” Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd, the show's producers said in a statement. “It’s a privilege to welcome them to the 90th Oscars stage.”

The Oscars air live March 4 on ABC at 8 p.m. EST
