Every role is a learning experience for Clara Lago. While the Spanish actress’ part in the new thriller The Commuter  "was very small,” the 27-year-old used her time on set to learn from her co-stars Liam Neeson and Patrick Wilson. Clara plays the role of MTA train passenger Eva in the film, which sees Liam’s character (Michael) being blackmailed by a stranger and caught up in a criminal conspiracy. The brunette beauty opened up to HOLA! USA about working with the veteran action star and an important project in her life.

HOLA! USA: One of the conflicts in this film begins with the question, “What kind of person are you,” and that's what we want to would you define yourself?
Clara Lago: “Define yourself is always awkward...but I guess if I had to choose a couple of adjectives would be empathetic and romantic.”

How was your experience working with Liam Neeson and Patrick Wilson?
“It was a real pleasure to see them at work and a privilege to be able to share the screen with Liam. He is one of those professionals that teaches you things by example, without the need to lecture anyone. He’s one of those actors that is talent[ed] and humble in equal parts.”

What was your best anecdote from working on this film?
“More than a specific story, I'll [always have] the entire learning process. The fact of having a character that was very small but that was present in many moments, even if it was in the background, gives you the opportunity to observe and listen, something which is very valuable for any actor.”

What do you think that was the biggest challenge?
"The greatest challenge for me was to maintain the state of concentration and tension, despite the fact that most of the time we were just a reference or figuration."

Have you ever had a bad experience when traveling by train or other means of transportation?
“Luckily I have not had any similar experience, and I hope I don't have it ever!”

Who else would you like to work with?
“Phew...a lot of people. But to say a few I would love to work with Javier Bardem, Penélope Cruz and/or Meryl Streep.”

What projects do you have coming up?
“Professionally, for the moment, I can’t say. On a personal level — the most important that I will ever be, probably — that is my Ochotumbao Foundation, which raises funds for projects and associations working for the defense of people, animals and to protect the environment.”

When it comes to winter, what is a must-have accessory in your wardrobe?
"Some good winter boots. I get cold very easily and my mother has always told me that the cold enters through the feet.

What are some of your beauty secrets?
"My usual routine is cleansing and moisturizing. And sun protection, very important!"

What trend would you like to disappear in 2018?
"I would like to see the tendency to look the other way disappear. I believe that we are at a critical moment in which the future of the planet (and therefore ours) depends on our habits for the next 20 or 30 years. I think that we need to encourage more empathy, awareness and love in the world."
