Claudia Vergara on working with her aunt Sofia and those 'mini-me' comparisons

Claudia Vergara is stepping out from her famous aunt Sofia Vergara's shadow and forging her own path in Hollywood. Not only has the actress' mini-me niece inherited her fashionable sense of style, but the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising alum has also caught the acting bug from the Modern Family star. The 25-year-old is set to star in an upcoming film with Sofia. "The plan is to play a small role, where I would be the young version of her. I am very excited," Claudia told HOLA! Colombia.

The aspiring designer admitted that she loves the comparisons that people draw between her and Joe Manganiello's wife. “I feel very flattered and lucky, not only because they tell me that I look like her, but also to have her as aunt and to be able to learn from her,” Claudia confessed. “I'm very grateful to her because I always have been supported and helped in everything that I wanted to do.”

HOLA!: The world knows your aunt Sofia Vergara, but what would you tell people about yourself?
"I'm hyperactive, happy, passionate about life and for fashion. I am a person with many desires to create and learn. I’m open to all opportunities that arise along the way and am grateful to God for each of them. I am very family oriented and my mom is the most important person in my life and who I love the most."

H!: Your dad, Rafael Vergara, died when you were very young. Do you have any memories of him?
"No, but all the people who knew him say he was an exceptional being, a very happy man."

H!: The resemblance between you and your aunt Sofia is uncanny. In fact, she herself once stated that you were her 'mini-me.' What do you think about that?
"I feel very flattered and lucky, not only because they tell me that I look like her, but also to have her as aunt and to be able to learn from her. I'm very grateful to her because I always have been supported and helped in everything that I wanted to do."

H!: You no longer live with her, but when you get together, what do you do?
"Plans with my aunt revolve mainly around food. They love going to restaurants, trying new things. When I get home there are cakes all over, that's not a lie, she makes me and Manolo try them all."

H!: Can you tell us about your new film starring alongside Sofia?
"For now, the plan is to play a small role, where I would be the young version of her. I am very excited, let's see how it goes with that."

H!: We also see that you are very close to your cousin Manolo. Are you two best friends?
"I live with him. He's the best 'roommate' of life ... He cooks for me every day. I am an only child and Manolo is the brother I never had. He scolds me all the time, but we love each other. We are very similar and we get along well."

H!: You have a brand Violetta Rose with your best friend Natalia Castillo. How is that going?
"It began as a project while we were both studying at FIDM [Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising]. We did very well while we lived in Los Angeles, until I decided to go to New York to work at Oscar de la Renta and she had to return to Colombia. It was difficult for us to handle it since neither of us was there."

H!: What are your plans for the future?
"My most important goal in the future is eventually have my own clothing brand. I love designing; It was what I studied and what I like to do."

H!: Let's talk about the heart. How is your relationship with [boyfriend] Ammiel Manevich?"
"Very well. We've been [together] a year. It is a very nice relationship. He trusts a lot in me and has guided and supported me in everything in this entrepreneurial process, which is a new stage in my life. He has taught me to believe in myself and persevere in my projects. I admire him very much and I learn from him every day. He makes me very happy."
