Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have called it quits. After nearly ten-months of dating, the singers split, according to People magazine. “She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,” an insider told the outlet. “It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.”

Selena, 25, and the Starboy crooner, 27, who traveled around the world together, began dating in January and made their red carpet debut as a couple at New York's Met Gala in May. The insider noted that the breakup hasn’t been easy on the musicians. They explained, “It’s been hard for them to come to the realization that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months.”

News of the pair’s split follows Selena’s recent reunions with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. The former couple — nicknamed Jelena — who dated on-and-off from 2011 to 2015, were spotted on Sunday, October 29, enjoying breakfast together in Los Angeles before attending church services. A week prior, Justin, 23, hung out at Selena’s Studio City home. A source tells HOLA! USA, "They are friends, always have been."

It is reported that Selena and Justin “got back in touch” after the actress underwent her "life or death" kidney transplant. A source told Us Weekly: "They realized it was time to grow past their history and move on. They’re grown up a lot in the past couple of years and are mature about the situation.”

Back in 2015, Justin opened up to Access Hollywood about his "first real love." "[Selena] is someone I love dearly. I'm never going to stop loving her. I'm never going to stop checking in on her," adding, "We always respected each other and we still respect each other." Selena gave insight into her relationships earlier this year telling Miami’s Power 96.5 FM, “I’m the kind of girl that loves tremendously big. I just have always been that girl." She continued, “I will give my heart and my soul to the person that I love. It’s just how I operate.”
