Ryan Gosling on his and Eva Mendes' daughter speaking 'Spanglish': 'It’s really cute'

Eva Mendes and her daughters — Esmeralda, three, and Amada, one — aren’t the only Spanish speakers in the Mendes-Gosling household. Ryan Gosling dropped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Friday, where he taught the TV host a phrase he learned from his partner's relatives. The Blade Runner 2049 shared, “There’s a fun saying that Eva's family says. It’s ‘Ay que rico, baby.’ Which is just a fun thing. It’s like 'That’s exciting baby.'”

Discussing his children's foreign language skills, the doting dad said, “They speak Spanish and well the oldest, it’s kind of a Spanglish right now." Ryan, 36, noted that his youngest daughter, Amada, is “not speaking Spanish yet.”

The Golden Globe winner recently enjoyed a family trip to the Big Apple with his leading lady and their bilingual girls. Ryan had the support of Eva as they celebrated his Saturday Night Live hosting gig for the show's 43rd season premiere. Earlier this year, the actress admitted to Shape magazine, “What people don’t know about me is that I love being home,” adding, “Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.”

Ryan has previously praised his longtime love's parenting skills. “I only know what it's like to have my kids,” Ryan told GQ. “And in my situation, Eva's the dream mother, and they're dream babies, and it's like a dream that I'm having right now. I'm dreaming it all. So I feel so lucky.” He continued, "When you meet your kids you realize that they deserve great parents. And then you have your marching orders and you have to try and become the person that they deserve.”
