Jennifer Lopez reveals she hasn’t heard from family in Puerto Rico post-Hurricane Maria

Jennifer Lopez is still waiting to hear from loved ones in Puerto Rico days after Hurricane Maria struck the US territory in the Caribbean. The 48-year-old, who was born in New York to Puerto Rican parents, took to her Instagram on Friday to deliver a passionate plea to her 69 million followers to help raise funds for relief efforts.

“What’s on my mind is what’s going on in Puerto Rico. The devastation is beyond belief,” the Dance Again singer said. “Me and my cousin still haven’t been able to hear from our families over there.”

“What’s foremost on my mind and many others is trying to figure out the best way to help,” Jennifer continued. "Today, Puerto Rico needs our help. I urge you to support and donate to the efforts of the First Lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Areizaga. Unidos Por Puerto Rico. Together we can help rebuild our island, and the Caribbean."

The country's Governor Ricardo Rosselló told CNN that no one on the island has power from utilities and that restoring power to everyone may take months. According to the Weather Channel, at least 30 people have been killed in the Caribbean because of Hurricane Maria, including 13 in Puerto Rico.

Like J.Lo, a number of other stars have taken to their respective social media platforms to rally support for those affected by the storm. Scroll below to see how other stars are reacting to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria.
