Serena Williams shares first photo of her baby girl and opens up about 'complications' with birth

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian’s little girl has made her sweet debut to the world. The new mommy, who welcomed her daughter on September 1 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, took to her Instagram to give her a formal introduction. “Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. You have to check out link in bio for her amazing journey. In the picture, little Alexis is resting on her mother’s chest with her eyes closed. Serena, 35, and Alexis, 34, shared a more intimate look at their baby’s journey with fans with a special video montage posted on the Reddit founder’s YouTube page. The video titled “Hello, world,” starts with Serena and Alexis getting their baby news and follows their journey to parenthood. At the end, the camera pans to a little sleeping Alexis as she is on her way home.

“So we’re leaving the hospital after six or seven days it’s been a long time, but, we had a lot of complications, but look what we got – we got a baby girl, Jr,” she shared. Serena and Alexis teased their big baby reveal, on Tuesday evening, with a picture of her and her fiancé captioned “…but are you ready.”

Serena and Alexis, who got engaged in December, announced that they were expecting their first child together in April. Last month, Serena opened up about her plans to get back to work once her baby was born. “I am looking forward to becoming a mother and coming back to the courts already,” she told The Telegraph in an interview published on Monday, August 21. “I’m always thinking about what’s next: the next victory, the next trophy.”
