Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem begin filming new movie together in Spain

Penélope Cruz is taking her work to her native country — Spain. The actress is teaming up with her husband Javier Bardem and Oscar-winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi for the psychological thriller Everybody Knows. Penélope, 43, and Javier, 48, who tied the knot in 2010, won't be playing lovers but rather but friends in the movie, which has already begun production near Madrid.

The Spanish language film will center around the character Carolina, played by Penélope, and her family who encounter unforeseen events that change their lives during a trip from Buenos Aires to Spain. The film will also star Ricardo Darín, Eduard Fernandez, Barbara Lennie, Inma Cuesta, Elvira Minguez, Romon Barea and Carla Campra.

Prior to filming the movie with her husband, Penélope wrapped a shoot in Miami for Ryan Murphy’s latest installment of American Crime Story, The Assassination of Gianni Versace. The mother-of-two will star in the FX series, which is set for a 2018 release date, as the sister of the slain fashion mogul, Donatella Versace.
