“I was a huge fan of her as a person as well,” Emily said to the crowd about her character. “I think as a kid I found the idea that this magical-mysterious person sort of whisking into their lives and making everything right again really comforting as a child. I think children have really responded to that lack of sentimentality she has – that’s she rude and eccentric and odd. I always found the film incredibly magical.” Emily is an ethereal beauty in the magical clip, which is enough to make people want to go out and fly a kite!

The 34-year-old’s Mary Poppins is updated – still donning her signature royal blue trench coat and umbrella, but with a few twists. Emily wears deep red gloves and a matching hat, with a burnt orange polka dot scarf peeking out of her jacket. The actress looks poised in the short video as she cracks a cheeky smile. “Emily Blunt is Mary Poppins in the upcoming sequel, #MaryPoppinsReturns,” Disney wrote. “The new film opens in theatres December 2018.”
Mary Poppins Returns will follow Mary as she goes back to the Banks family over 20 years later, but this time to take care of a grown up Michael's three children. The official synopsis reads: "In the story, Michael and Jane are now grown up, with Michael, his three children and their housekeeper, Ellen, living on Cherry Tree Lane. After Michael suffers a personal loss, the enigmatic nanny Mary Poppins re-enters the lives of the Banks family, and, along with the optimistic street lamplighter Jack, uses her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives."
The film has a star-studded cast, including: Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Angela Lansbury. Meryl will be playing the role of Topsy, Mary's "eccentric cousin.” Dick Van Dyke, who famously appeared in the original film back in 1964, is also set to make an appearance. He told Entertainment Tonight: "I'll be going to London in the spring to do my role, and I get to do a little song and dance number. I think I just have the one scene and a little song and dance in it."
