On the tail end of hinting that her current tour would be her last, Adele has cancelled her final two concerts. On Friday, the Grammy and Oscar-winning singer profusely apologized to her fans with a heartfelt note explaining why she had to make the difficult decision. The superstar, who was set to close her 2017 tour at London’s Wembley Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, sadly cited damaged vocal chords as her reason for axing the shows. Clearly distraught, Adele poured her heart out to the world by posting the letter to her social media pages.

The 29-year-old began by saying her previous two nights at Wembley “have been the biggest and best shows of my life” but that she had struggled vocally. “I felt like I constantly had to clear my throat, especially last night,” she explained. “I went to see my throat doctor this evening because my voice didn’t open up at all today and it turns out I have damaged my vocal chords.” The star then told her fans that on medical advice she is unable to perform this weekend.
“To say I’m heartbroken would be a complete understatement,” she wrote. Adele said she had thought of every possible way she could do the show, revealing: "I’m so desperate to do them that I’ve even considered miming, just to be in front of you and be with you. But I’ve never done it and I cannot in a million years do that to you.” She continued: “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for your disappointment. I’m sort for the nights you would have had with your loved ones and the memories you would have made together.”

Adele also made a point to apologize for the money her fans had spent on trips to see her. After 121 shows on her tour, the two at Wembley were considered the big finale. Clearly upset, Adele said she was struggling to come to terms with the tough decision. She said: “It’s as if my whole career has been building up to these 4 shows.” She then added: “Of course refunds will be available is the shows can’t be rescheduled. There will be more information over the next few days.” Adele ended her message with a further apology, writing: “please forgive me x."

The letter comes after the star shared a handwritten note in her concert program, revealing that she may not ever tour again. It read: "So this is it. After 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25 we are at the end. Touring is a peculiar thing, it doesn't suit me particularly well. I'm a real homebody and I get so much joy in the small things.” She concluded the note by saying: “I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don't know if I'll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.”
