It was the parental O-M-G moment seen around the world, and now Professor Robert Kelly and his wife are speaking out about the video that shot them to viral fame last Friday. Last week, Robert was participating in a Skype video about the political crisis in South Korea with BBC when his children opened the door and stormed in before his stealthy wife was able to diffuse the situation. After taking a few days to disconnect from the Internet and process their latest fame, Robert and his family sat down for their first Skype interview since the clip.

“I saw the video like everybody else. My wife did a great job cleaning up a really unanticipated situation as best she possibly could,” the father-of-two told the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday from his home in Busan, Sourth Korea. “It was funny. If you watch the tape I was sort of struggling to keep my own laughs down. They’re little kids and that’s how things are.” Robert and his wife Kim Jung-A did the interview in the room where it all went down with the charismatic tot Marion, who hilariously opened the door and danced around behind her father and eight-month-old James, who rolled in right behind his sister, making for the hilariously funny clip.

Robert, who called the video “a comedy of errors” noted that his wife was watching the live interview on the television and because of the distraction and delay, did not see the two kids sneak out of the room. “As soon as she opened the door I saw her image on my screen,” he said. “Yes I was mortified, but I also want my kids to feel comfortable coming to me.”
The parents don’t blame the kids for the mishap. In fact, the professor‘s wife pointed the finger at him. “He usually locks the door,” Kim said. “Most of the time they come back to me after they find the locked door. But they didn’t. And then I saw the door was open. It was chaos for me.” Robert noted the exact cause of his daughter’s show-stopping moment; “She was in a hippity-hoppity mood that day because of the school party.”
