Ricky Martin met Jwan Yosef on Instagram: 'I did not hear his voice until 6 months after we met'

The Puerto Rican singer got engaged to the Syrian-Swedish artist last year and yesterday revealed that he met him through Instagram: "I liked his art"

Last November, Ricky Martin confessed to Ellen DeGeneres that he had gotten engaged with Jwan Yosef, the Syrian-Swedish artist with whom he has had a relationship for more than a year. "He's a conceptual artist and I'm a collector. I started looking and saw his works and I went crazy, because I really like what he does, it's very original, and I contacted him," said the Puerto Rican singer. "And then you collected him," Ellen teased, making the singer laugh and the audience applaud.

In an interview with Andy Cohen, Ricky revealed yesterday that nobody introduced him to his fiancé, but that he found him through Instagram: "If you select the 'art' tab in the application, it shows you several things," said the father of Valentino and Matteo, who after finding the profile of Jwan decided to write to him directly. “We were talking for like six months without me hearing his voice. We talked about art – nothing sexy … I swear, nothing sexy. It was all about art and life in general. He used to live in London, I went to London and I met him.”

Although he is already engaged, the singer still hasn’t set a day for his wedding, but he assured that it will be a great event: "I am going to make it big. I'm going to make a lot of noise; A three day wedding."

In his talk with Ellen, Ricky said that he was very nervous about proposing to Jwan: "I proposed. I was really nervous, but I got on my knees and took out, not a little box, I just had it on a little velvet pouch," explained the pop star. "Instead of saying, 'Would you marry me?' I said, 'I got you something!', he said laughing. "I said, 'I want to spend my life with you,' and he was like, 'What is the question?' ... 'Would you marry me?' 30 minutes after I said: ‘Wait did you say yes?’"
