Donald Trump on Alicia Machado: 'She was the worst 'Miss' we had'

After the debate on Monday, the businessman said the former Miss Universe was a bad representative of the crown of beauty

The bad experience Alicia Machado lived after being crowned Miss Universe in 1996, has not yet finished. At least not for her, who for years has struggled with insecurities that Donald Trump planted in her mind for having gained a couple of pounds but during the debate last monday, she gained strength when candidate Hillary Clinton, recalled the issue to defend her. "One of the worst things he said was about a woman in a beauty contest and he called this woman 'Miss Piggy,' then he called her 'Miss Housekeeping' because she was Latina," said Clinton about Trump’s conduct towards women. Annoyed by the reaction the situation broke out, the business tycoon didn’t remain silent and exploded this morning against the former Miss Venezuela.

"I know that person. She was Miss Universe," Trump recalled on the morning television program Fox & Friends. "She was the worst we ever had. The worst. The absolute worst. She was impossible." he added. Regardless of whether his words would affect Alicia or even the polls, he continued. "She was the winner, and she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem... not only that, her attitude."

Recalling that stage of the Miss Universe contest, Tump added: "Hillary went back into the years and... found the girl and talked about her like she was Mother Teresa, and it wasn't quite that way, but that's OK. Hillary has to do what she has to do."

Trump's recent words collide with the testimony of the former Miss Universe, who recorded a video few weeks ago about her experience during her reign and the humiliation she felt. This video was published again in the Twitter profile of Hillary, and has made the actress the latin protagonist of the debate between the candidates for President of the United States.

At 19, Alicia felt humiliated when Donald Trump forced her to exercise in front of dozens of reporters, which proved that he was right and if she couldn’t lose the weight, he would take the crown from her. For the then teenager, this meant a constant struggle against her body that triggered health problems and, although she is now happy in her life as an actress and mother, Alicia still feels betrayed by trusting the man who through an international competition, broke her dreams of being the most beautiful woman in the universe.
