Mystery revealed: What is Salma Hayek doing in Croatia?

On Sunday, Salma Hayek took to social media to share she’d arrived at a “new magical location” also known as the beautiful country of Croatia. The Mexican actress shared a photo on her Instagram account of herself next to her current co-star Samuel L. Jackson on location for the upcoming film The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. “Arriving to a new magical location #hitmansbodyguard2 @samuelljackson #soniaisback,” she wrote. Just a few hours before Samuel himself posted a few snaps of Rovinj and wrote, ”This new location looks promising! Croatia is lovely at first glance!”

Like her co-stars which also includes Ryan Reynolds, who plays the title character as the bodyguard, and Morgan Freeman, the Beatriz At Dinner star has been hard at work filming the sequel to the 2017 comedy-action film The Hitman’s Bodyguard. The 52-year-old has taken to the ‘gram several times to share snippets on set and recently revealed Antonio Banderas will also be starring in the film due to hit theatres in 2020. “No! This is not a #tbt ! It’s a reunion! We’re working together again for #thehitmansbodyguard2,” she captioned her pic.

Salma and Antonio go way back as the two have appeared together in films such as Desperado, Frida and Once Upon A Time in Mexico among others. It’s not yet known whether they’ll be friends or enemies in the film, but from the looks of the photo she posted, it seems they might be allies? TBD!

Although the official trailer for the film is yet to be released, it’s safe to say the new storyline revolves around her character, Sonia, who is the hitman and Samuel’s character’s wife. From her on-set Instagram posts, Sonia is involved in a lot of action and maybe even gets a few hits here and there. Besides Croatia, the film is also shot in Italy, United Kingdom and Bulgaria.
