Britney Spears' return to the stage, Nick Jonas' hot performance and other things you can expect at the 2016 MTV VMAs

It's time to get into Formation and say Hello to the 2016 Video Music Awards. From Beyoncé to Kanye West, some of the biggest names in the music industry will be hitting the stage on Sunday alongside gold-winning Olympic athletes at New York's Madison Square for the award show. It's the return of Britney Spears. The Glory singer will be hitting the VMAs stage for the first time in nearly a decade. The pop icon will be teaming up with Rapper G-Eazy for the world premiere performance of her first single Make Me off her ninth studio album.

Rihanna will be work-ing it on stage with a performance and receiving the night's biggest award., the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her decade-long impact on music, pop culture, fashion, film and philanthropy. Prior recipients of the award include Kanye West and Beyoncé.

Musical artists and athletes will collide at the 2016 show. US swimmer Michael Phelps will be trading his Olympic medals to present a silver Moonman at the Video Music Awards.

Boomer Phelps' dad won't be the only Olympian in the star-studded audience. The Final Five aka the US women's gymnastics team (Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian, Aly Raisman, Simone Biles and Laurie Hernandez) will be jumping on stage to present at the music awards show.

Safe to say Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time this year (right, Kanye?). The Formation singer leads the pack of this year's nominees with a whopping total of 11 nominations.

Trailing Beyoncé, though not by much is Adele. The Grammy winner picked up eight nominations this year with seven nominations alone for her popular tune Hello. No word on whether the British songstress will be in attendance but we can bet she'll be sending her love from wherever she is.

Kimye will be in the house — err, well Madison Square Garden. Look out for major fashion moments from these two. Kim Kardashian West will be presenting at the award show, while her husband (Kanye West) is a confirmed attendee. The rapper is rumored to be performing his song Famous.

It appears there won't be any bad blood at this year's VMAs. A source tells HELLO! that Taylor Swift will not be attending the New York show. The news comes weeks after Snapchat-gate, in which Kim leaked footage of the 1989 singer giving Kanye her blessing on his controversial Famous lyrics.

The streets of New York are going to get a little bit hotter thanks to Nick Jonas. The Former JoBro will perform his latest single Bacon off his sophomore album Last Year Was Complicated alongside Ty Dolla $ign.
