Princess Deena launches Vogue Arabia with star-studded soirée

Princess Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz hosted a star-studded affair to celebrate the launch of Vogue Arabia. The fashionable fête was held on April 7 at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar. A number of stylish names stepped out for the glamorous festivities including designer Peter Dundas, artistic director and co-president of Chopard Caroline ScheufeleSofia Richie, Julissa Bermudez, Izabel GoulartNaomi Campbell and Lauryn Hill, who performed at the celebration.

"The party was truly an epic Arabian night! Having Lauryn Hill perform was the cherry on top. Princess Deena transported all of us to a magical setting," Julissa told HOLA! USA. Naomi turned heads at the event wearing a spellbinding powder blue chiffon and pearlescent lace couture abaya (a robe-like dress worn by some Muslim women) from Ralph & Russo’s spring/summer 2017 collection.

Meanwhile the host of the evening, editor-in-chief Princess Deena stunned for the occasion donning a show-stopping, custom-made Zac Posen gown, which she paired a matching scarlet headscarf. “It was a dream that someday we would get Vogue into the region, but never in a million years did I imagine I would be at the helm of it,” the Saudi royal confessed (via WWD) at the party. “I hope everyone leaves with a meaningful memory of Arabia,” Princess Deena said. “I feel the job Vogue Arabia is to bridge east and west and show what we share, rather than what sets us apart.”

The launch of the 22nd international edition of Vogue was co-sponsored by the Place Vendôme Qatar, an upcoming multibillion Qatari Riyal luxury development which will include a host of retail and leisure spaces including two lavish 5-star hotels.
